Exhibition “Time for #royaltiesfrominternetu!” at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia

On September 25, 2024, in the foyer of the Mercure Hotel in Gdynia, a special exhibition of photographs, props and banners documenting this year's protests of the Filmmakers' Coalition was officially opened. The exhibition allows a glimpse behind the scenes of the fight for the introduction of royalties in Poland for the distribution of audiovisual works on the Internet, while being a symbolic testimony to the determination of the film community in its pursuit of fair remuneration for creators.

The exhibition, open to the public as part of the 49th Polish Film Festival, is a record of creative expression and social commitment. The banners, designed by Maria Wytrykus, evocatively capture the spirit of the protests and express the demands of the Filmmakers' Coalition. Among the exhibits are props accompanying these events, such as a megaphone, T-shirts, badges and photographs captured at key moments of the “Time for #royaltiesfrominternetu!” campaign.

The grand opening was attended by, among others Grzegorz Łoszewski, President of the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP), Dominik Skoczek, Director of SFP-ZAPA, Małgorzata Machczyńska, legal advisor of SFP-ZAPA, Martyna Tomczyk-Bagińska, Senior Communications Specialist of SFP-ZAPA, Kamil Chomiuk, screenwriter and Chairman of the Screenwriters' Circle of SFP, Maria Wytrykus, author of banner graphics, Katarzyna Warzecha, director, representing the SFP Youth Circle, Magdalena Boczarska, actress, Mateusz Banasiuk, actor, representing the Polish Actors' Trade Union (ZZAP), and screenwriters Tomasz Klimala and Brunon Hawryluk, representing the Polish Screenwriters' Guild.

We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition and explore the history of the fight for #tantiemyzinternetu (royalties from the internet) – a chapter that will go down in the history of the Polish film industry. The exhibition is open to visitors until the end of the festival.
