SFP-ZAPA delegation in Strasbourg: fighting for artists' rights at the European forum

In recent days, representatives of the Polish Filmmakers Association - Union of Audiovisual Authors and Producers (SFP-ZAPA) and the SFP Youth Circle have been visiting Strasbourg, the heart of the European legislative process. The visit to the European Parliament headquarters was an excellent opportunity to present the success of the Polish film industry in the implementation of royalties for the distribution of audiovisual works on the Internet. It was also an important forum for discussions on the future of creators' rights protection in the context of the dynamically evolving digital market.

The SFP-ZAPA delegation consisted of:

  • Dominik Skoczek – Director of SFP-ZAPA,
  • Małgorzata Machczyńska – SFP-ZAPA legal advisor,
  • Anna Robak-Przewłoka – SFP-ZAPA Head of Communication and PR.

The SFP Youth Circle was represented by:

  • Katarzyna Warzecha – director,
  • Elżbieta Benkowska – director and screenwriter.

The delegation had the honor of participating in events organized by the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA), including the announcement of the nominations for the LUX Prize 2025 - a prestigious award given to films that address key social and cultural issues for the European Union.

Key talks were also held as part of the visit to Strasbourg, including meetings with both the SAA Board and representatives of the European Parliament. Among the people with whom the delegation had the opportunity to engage in dialogue were MEP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus and MEP Bogdan Zdrojewski. The discussions focused on the challenges of protecting the rights of creators in the era of a dynamically developing digital market.
