The Polish Filmmakers Association and CANAL+ Polska have signed a new general agreement that also covers VOD

In March this year, the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP) concluded a new general agreement with CANAL+ Polska. It comprehensively regulates the terms of cooperation regarding the use of audiovisual works from the SFP repertoire.

The new contract with one of the largest pay-TV operators in Poland covers not only the broadcasting and rebroadcasting of works, but also the online field of exploitation - VOD.

This is yet another contract under which SFP-ZAPA will be able to pass on remuneration to creators for making their films and series available on streaming services. In June last year, SFP-ZAPA concluded an agreement covering royalties from the internet with another pay-TV provider in Poland - Cyfrowy Polsat S.A.

During our cooperation to date, CANAL+ has repeatedly proven that it is a reliable and trustworthy partner for the film industry. We are convinced that this is the next step on the road to further strengthening our cooperation. We perceive CANAL+'s decision to sign a contract covering the VOD field not only as an excellent response to legal regulations created at the EU level, but also as an expression of corporate social responsibility. It is worth emphasising that this type of activity is perceived extremely positively by the film community. We hope that other VOD platforms will follow CANAL+'s example, commented Dominik Skoczek, director of SFP-ZAPA, on the results of the negotiations with CANAL+.

Canal+ has been supporting Polish filmmakers for over 28 years. During this time, nearly two hundred film projects have been created with our participation. We are pleased to have reached another agreement on cooperation with SFP. When agreeing on the terms of this cooperation, both parties took into account the dynamically changing legal and market environment. Thanks to the rational approach of SFP-ZAPA, we were able to reach an agreement based on conditions which are acceptable to us in a situation of ever-increasing burdens for companies like ours that create and deliver content in multiple models and through various technologies, said Edyta Sadowska, President of the Management Board and CEO of CANAL+ Polska.
